Laxnes & Silfra snorkel

In the summer season between April 1st and September 30th we offer the Snorkel Silfra & Horseback Riding Combo Tour.  This is a great tour for the whole family as no experience is needed to snorkel or ride horses.

On this tour you will first visit the most popular snorkeling dive site in Iceland: the magical fissure Silfra, located in Þingvellir National Park.  During your snorkel you will explore the four main parts of Silfra. You will float through Big Crack, Silfra’s narrowest section and where the continental plates are so close you can almost touch them.
The fissure then widens into Silfra Hall. Here the full spectrum of Silfra’s colours and clarity become all the more apparent. At this point if you look at just the right angle you can see all the way to Thingvallavatn, over 150m away. Near to the opening to Thingvallavatn we will enter the Silfra Cathedral; as the depth reaches 23m you feel like you are flying over the boulders and glacial silt. Your snorkel is finished in the endless visibility of Silfra Lagoon.

After the snorkeling you’ll head back to Reykjavik where you´ll have time for lunch before getting pickup for our afternoon Laxnes special.  If you prefer though, you can request a dropoff directly at Laxnes farm where lunch is available and you can mingle with the horses, enjoy a drink or surf the net on our free wifi.  Please note though that the gap between tours is roughly 2 hours.

After the ride you´ll then be dropped off in Reykjavik.

NOTE ABOUT PICK UP:
Pick up in Reykjavík begins 1,5 hours earlier than the tour times show below.

This tour is operated in cooperation with Dive.is

FAQ’s

Laxnes & Silfra

No, it’s optional but every now and then we have trouble finding our clients during pickup and a quick text message is often better than e-mailing as you’ll typically see it sooner.  The driver has limited time to wait so it can make a difference.

Please note that we will only call you in rare cases during pickup when the driver is unable to send a text or email and knows you’re in the area.  We do our very best to find our clients and the easiest way to solve booking errors is fast communication.

Arctic Adventures handle the initial pickup and the bus will be clearly marked with their logo.  Their pickup starts at 8:30 and lasts about 30 minutes.  Make sure you’re at the pickup location at the right time as you might be the first pickup of the day.

Make sure you list your email and/or phone number so they can contact you if they have trouble finding you.

Yes, every tour on our site, including the combo tours does!

We strongly recommend bringing long underwear, thick socks, suitable clothes for the weather of the day and contact lenses if you wear glasses.  Silfra is quite cold and having something dry and warm to change into never hurts.

Our online booking system, Bokun, is a very reliable system which automatically reserves your seats from a pool of availability for each tour.  Once you’ve completed your reservation you should receive an email from the system with a ticket showing your tour date and information on pickup location and time, or if you choose to travel to the farm yourself, in which case the ticket shows what time to arrive. If you do not receive an email very soon, check your junk mail folder or contact us in case the email address was input incorrectly.

When booking a combo tour, the system automatically books the tour with each operator respectively. Our partners have been operating these tours with us for years, some decades, resulting in smooth transitions between companies.

New city regulations require us to use bus stops in certain areas.

If your residence isn’t in the menu it’s likely either new or falls under a no-pickup zone. Please either pick To be determined and contact the farm through info@laxnes.is , we’ll then let you know if it needs to be changed or if we can pick you up there, or choose one of the nearest bus stops.

The bus stops are numbered in our dropdown menu and the locations can be found here: Bus stops

No, our timetable only allows us to pickup in Reykjavik center or nearby hotels.  If you are staying in nearby towns, the capital area has pretty good public transport and we could meet up in Reykjavik.

Please note that this excludes Mosfellsbær, where the farm is located. We can pick you up anywhere in that area.
