Cutest dog?
Yes, I´m fairly certain Kalli is the cutest dog ever :)
New Homepage
We are currently working on a new homepage which will include info both on the farm, our tours as well as information about the Long distance ride in Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Germany sponsored by Icelandair. We plan to have seperate pages dedicated to each country with information written in differnt languages. It´s taking some time to get all that info set up correctly but look for an update somewhere around the beginning of November.
LDR in Germany 2008
The Laxnes Long distance ride, sponsored by Icelandair, was held on may 25th and described as a resounding success. Over 40 competitors raced in fantastic weather and we would like to congratulate the winners and look forward to the next race in 2009.
40 years anniversary
This year we are celebrating our 40th year in operation. To mark this occation the President of Iceland invited Póri to Bessastadir (Iceland´s Presidential residence) for an official reception.
We have big things planned for this summer to celebrate this milestone, and who knows.... we might even take a day off!!! (not likely though)
On the picture is Póri with President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson
Thingvellir
Here´s a picture that Josefine (used to work at the farm) sent me. It´s from a tour that staff went on to Thingvellir.
Update on the mare´s name
I want to thank everyone for sending in ideas for a name for my mare. I got several intersting names but decided to go for an old Icelandic name suggested by Íris Kristjánsdóttir.
Her name is "Snegla", an old Icelandic word for "tempramental woman"
Mail from America
My husband and I traveled from Boston to Reykjavik in November 2007.
Our entire trip was outstanding, but our morning at Laxnes was
definitely a particular highlight. The staff was incredibly friendly
and did a great job selecting horses that were appropriate for each
rider based on their level of experience. As someone with very
limited horseback riding experience, I was unbelievably grateful to a
kind young woman from Sweden (I apologize, but I've forgotten her
name) who patiently stayed with me throughout the ride to ensure that
I became confident enough riding to really enjoy myself. The farm's
scenery was breathtaking and peaceful - and the riding suits with
which we were provided were warm enough to allow us to focus on the
ride instead of the cold! I can't thank you enough for a truly
perfect day. While re-visiting your website to dream longingly of the
day when we can return, I noticed your request for photographs. I am
attaching a few photos that you're more than welcome to use as you see
fit.
Thank you again for an unforgettable visit!

Lost mail
Unfortunately we lost every mail in our inbox and with it all the great pictures that people sent us before I got the chance to upload them and add to the page.
So this is basically an SOS. If you sent us a letter with pictures, could you please resend?
Thanks in advance :)

Letter from Norway
Dear Haukur -
Here is a photo of our daughter who visited you in october last year.
Her name is Marie, aged 13, and she had two fantastic ridingtours with
your guide.
The first day it was her, a friend of us and your guide. It was raining, it
was foggy and a cold wind. Not the perfect day for riding. They went for a
ride for two hours and when they came back, she was smiling from ear to ear,
and the first ting she said was "Can I please go tomorrow too?"
Next day the weather was a little bit better. This time she was in a group
of people, and the tour was great. She also got the same horse from the day
before!
All in all she had a great time, and we have promised her more riding when we
come back to Iceland.
All the best

The boy and his horse
That´s Kristján Ari, my older son and Tangó, my oldest horse. I´ve had that horse for 16 years now and we´ve seen it all. He doesn´t look all that tough anymore but this horse took me to Thingvellir from Laxnes (about 40 kilometers) in 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Tangó is now 24 winters old and I only use him sparingly in summertime. He´s always been my favorite horse ever because I used to say jokingly that he´s got the worst temper in Icelandic history. You see, before I got him he demolished not one but two stables, completely wrecking the interiors. I, however, formed a good connection with him right away and to this day we have a couple of games he likes to play with me. One is where I give him a great bit hug and he pushes me away with his head and the other is where I get on him bareback and pull the reigns while giving him a tap in the belly with my legs.... that´s his que to try and throw me off and he´ll buck a couple of times each time I signal him to start.
This horse is to me what Icelandic horses are all about. He may not be the best at tölt nor be anywhere near competition standards but he´s a fun character, reliable, strong and a good friend.
Name?
That´s my mare that´s 8 years old now. The thing is I usually name my horses when I figure out who they are and this one is still a mystery for me. For a mare she´s very large, a strong trotter, slow on tölt. Daughter to Hóla-Biskup and a mare named Freyja.
Any ideas for a name?

MINE!
It may look rough but that´s just playtime. Actual contact is minimal and really just for show when horses play.
Running Home
This picture was taken during our fall roundup. These horses got some fall vacation in a fence close to the farm so all we really had to do was open the gate and home they went.
Truly the easiest horse in the world to keep.
Crazy Horse?
Check out the picture under the Icelandic Horses tab. That´s my new horse Kolskeggur trying to make the rest of the ride easier for himself by getting rid of me hahaha.
At 6 winters old, he´s a powerful little horse once he out on the trails but also surprisingly gentle to be around and doesn´t even move an inch while I put shoes on him. All in all a good example of how an Icelandic horse should be.
Happy Holidays to everyone.

Dear all...
Wow where to begin...it has always been an ambition of mine to ride a horse
and what better way to experience it than with you guys...

Terence Stamp at Laxnes
Actor Terence Stamp came riding at our farm and tried a couple of horses. An enjoyable surprise to say the least.
Fun mail
Here´s a heartwarmer:
Dear Haukur,
I am writing to thank you and your family again for the wonderful experience we had at your farm. It is definitely the best memory I have of my trip to Iceland, (the guys may disagree). Attached are a couple of pictures we took, if you want them. I think about your wonderful horses all the time - wish I could have one of my own. I don't know if I will ever make it back to Iceland, but if I do you will definitely see me.
Thanks again
Jean : )
Thanks for the mail Jean, wonderful to know you had fun and I hope to see you guys again one day :)

Þeir sem komu að verkinnu voru m.a.:
Bjarni Gríms, Toggi, Dísa Laxnes, Andrea Helga, Raven, Erna Ómars, Edda búninga, Frosti, Jonathan, Jóhann Björgvins. og Co.,Siggi Guðjóns, Hjálmar Edwards, Daníel Bjöss, Haukur Sprengja, Tommi Marschall, Load Saidane
